This 3-day intensive course offers aircraft developers practical knowledge for an efficient path to top performance and timely certification. Day 1:
- Introduction to electric aviation
- Key components (motors, power electronics, batteries)
- Overview of architectures of electric drive systems and their functions
- Certification processes for electric propulsion systems in general aviation (CS-23)
Day 2:
- Safety analysis for electric drive systems
- Functional safety and risk management methods
- Introduction to functional hazard analysis (FHA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
- Redundancy and safety targets for electric drive systems
Day 3:
- Practical exercises with system components such as the EDCS-4 main computer and power electronics
- Overview of hardware and software development processes according to DO-178C/DO-254
- System verification and test strategies according to aviation standards
