The RED Pioneers Academy is an initiative of Lange Aviation GmbH which is dedicated to promoting renewable energies and sustainable aviation technologies. RED stands for “Renewable Energy Development”.

Our team has received numerous awards for its achievements in the fields of electric and hydrogen flight.

Goals and vision

The Academy aims to train the next generation of engineers, technicians and aviation experts who will be at the forefront of electric and sustainable aviation. It aims to produce pioneers who will shape the future of green aviation. Inspired by the groundbreaking innovations of Lange Aviation GmbH, participants will be able to:

Develop new electric aircraft for general aviation

Efficiently implement the transformation from combustion to electric aircraft

Develop and implement charging infrastructure for aircraft based on automotive standards

Participants are encouraged to develop innovative solutions to the challenges of sustainable aviation. They deal with topics such as:

  • Increasing the energy density of battery systems
  • Development of advanced thermal management solutions
  • Optimization of power electronics for aviation applications
  • Integration of batteries in aircraft

Educational Focus

The main educational branch of the RED Pioneers Academy focuses on battery-electric solutions:

Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of the fundamentals and advanced concepts of electrical propulsion systems. These systems are already used in over 100 aircraft like the Antares and will soon be used in EASA-certified RED.3 propulsion systems for general aviation aircraft (CS-23).

Conducting safety analyses (FMEA, FTA) for electrical aircraft systems
